a phoenix bending backward.
24 x 48 inches | acrylic on canvas
Under crushing light
A dark is honed
Down from piercing
Up into facets crystalline
Each glint a think on that thought
Sharing it you’ve long fought
For feeling is meant to be lost
Its wage ought never be warred
If up you beat yourself
How down and kicked you become
Know it wants out too
For this reality will not stop
You are made to let it go
In the form of your own movement
Every spins its center
An eternal, orbiting motion
Each disappearance, living’s return
Untouchable at the core
A slowed conscience learning fast
Out of patience taught well,
Nothing becomes it all
If you never see it coming,
Always, it will.
